Community rules
Memetime is a place for funny pictures and videos. Every meme is checked by a moderator before it appears in the feed. These rules apply to memes, titles, tags, comments, usernames and avatars.
1. Who can use Memetime
- You must be 16 or older.
- One person, one account. Extra accounts to dodge a ban, vote twice or boost your own posts are not allowed.
- No bots, scripts or automated posting, voting or sign-ups.
2. Never allowed
Breaking these rules leads to a permanent ban, and we may report it to the authorities.
- Sexual content involving minors, or anything that sexualises children, in any form, including drawings and AI images.
- Content that is illegal where you or we are, or that promotes terrorism or violent extremism.
- Threats of violence, or encouraging self-harm or suicide.
- Sharing someone’s private information (doxxing): addresses, phone numbers, documents, private photos.
- Intimate images of anyone shared without their consent.
3. Not allowed on Memetime
- Porn and sexual content, nudity, and graphic gore or real violence, even as a joke.
- Hate and harassment: attacking people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age; targeted bullying of a real person.
- Spam: ads, self-promotion, referral links, crypto and money schemes, the same meme posted again and again.
- Scams and malware: phishing, fake giveaways, links to harmful files.
- Impersonation of other people, brands or Memetime staff.
- Vote manipulation: trading votes, voting with several accounts, asking others to mass-vote.
- Misleading medical, election or emergency information presented as fact.
4. Posting memes
- Post memes, not regular photos, screenshots of chats with personal data, or ads.
- Give it an honest title. Tags should describe the meme: separate them with commas, for example
back to the future, movies. - Check that the meme is not already in the feed. We remove duplicates.
- New accounts can post 3 memes and 20 comments a day, and can’t post links in comments during the first 7 days. The limits lift automatically.
5. Comments
- Argue with the idea, not the person. Swearing for fun is fine; insulting someone is not.
- Stay on topic. Off-topic flooding and copy-pasted messages count as spam.
6. Copyright
Memes often reuse pictures from films, games and the internet. Post things you have the right to share or that are used as commentary, parody or criticism. If you own the rights to something on Memetime and want it removed, write to [email protected] with a link to the meme and proof that you own the rights. We remove clearly infringing content quickly.
7. Reporting
Use the Report button under any meme or comment. Reports are only seen by moderators. False or mass reports to harass someone are against the rules.
8. What moderators do
- Moderators approve or reject every meme before it is published, and may remove memes and comments that break these rules.
- Depending on how serious it is, we may remove the content, limit the account or ban it. A ban deletes the account’s memes, comments and votes.
- If you think a decision was wrong, write to [email protected] with your username. We read every appeal.
9. Changes
We may update these rules as Memetime grows. The date at the top shows the latest version. Important changes will be announced on the site.
